EDF offers £300 for new EV charger and tariff sign-ups
EDF is kickstarting the new year by offering £300 to anyone who signs up to its Pod Point Plug & Power tariff before the end of January.
Both new and existing EDF customers can sign up to the electric vehicle home charger and tariff bundle to receive the £300 bill credit, worth around 12,000 miles of electric driving under the energy giant’s calculations.
‘Pod Point Plug & Power’ offers drivers the ability to purchase the Pod Point Solo 3S charger for a lower upfront cost of £499 (RRP £1,099), with the remainder of the cost for the charger spread over two years and integrated into the tariff.
The bundle, developed with Pod Point, provides drivers with a more convenient and affordable way to get a home charger to charge their EV, and make the switch to electric driving.
The electricity-only tariff comes with cheaper overnight electricity at 8.49p per kWh from 12am to 5am for both driver’s cars and homes, and is backed by zero-carbon electricity.
Rich Hughes, director of retail at EDF, said: “We’re excited to start 2025 with big savings for drivers by offering them an even better deal on the Pod Point Plug & Power tariff. By spreading the cost of a charger over two years, we already make it easier for customers to manage typically high upfront costs. Now, with an additional £300 back upon signing up, the costs are even lower.
“We all know driving electric will reduce our carbon footprint, and our aim is by offering more deals like this to help customers save cash in the process, we hope it’ll encourage more drivers to make the switch.”
Customers can sign up at EDF’s website. EDF will then forward customer details onto Pod Point so they can buy the Solo 3S EV charger from £499. The Solo 3S comes with standard installation included and a five-year warranty. The Pod Point app also lets users manage their home charging from their phone.
Customers must have a smart meter and be opted into half hourly meter readings to be eligible. Once customers have purchased their charger and booked an installation date, EDF will apply the £300 credit to their account within 30 days.
