EDF offers EV salary sacrifice to SMEs in DriveElectric partnership
Energy firm EDF is providing its SME business customers with access to EV salary sacrifice under a tie-up with DriveElectric.
The scheme enables employees of its business customers to save up to 40% on the cost of a brand-new electric vehicle compared to personal lease by exchanging part of their salary; the gross amount sacrificed reduces the employee’s income tax and national insurance (NIC) liability, as well as the employer’s NIC liability.
Drivers can also have a Pod Point home charger fitted with significant savings and are also able to charge their vehicle using EDF’s zero-carbon GoElectric tariff.
EDF customers can search, select and order an EV entirely online – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – and with a wide range of EVs, from compact city cars to large SUVs.
Businesses can control and oversee salary sacrifice electric vehicle leases using DriveElectric’s EV Hub – and also benefit from a new means to attract, reward and retain the best employees, and accelerate an organisation’s progress towards its net zero goals.
DriveElectric also has dedicated consultants to advise about electric cars, supported by tax and compliance specialists, and an on-call team to answer any questions. DriveElectric will also assist organisations to promote salary sacrifice schemes to employees, and can organise EV test drive events.
The deal builds on DriveElectric’s existing partnership with EDF, which started in 2019, and follows the EV leasing specialist’s move into salary sacrifice earlier this summer.
Examples of cost reductions offered by salary sacrifice compared to a personal lease for an employee include a £206 monthly saving on a new MG4 SE, or a £210 monthly saving on a new Kia Niro 2 Nav, for a 40% taxpayer.
Diana Bowden, sales and marketing director at EDF, said: “Our partners at DriveElectric already deliver an exceptional service to our personal and business leasing customers, so we’re excited to be working with them on this new offer to help even more drivers save cash and carbon.”
Adam Kemp, director of partnerships, DriveElectric, added: “Our expanded partnership now allows EDF business customers to drive an EV cost-effectively through salary sacrifice, and our new online system puts them in charge of the car selection and ordering process. Of course, our normal high levels of one-to-one customer service and unrivalled expertise about EVs are on hand as we continue to help people make the transition to net zero.”
