EV subscription service Onto has appointed Pod Point as its new partner for home charging.

Onto subscribers can get a Pod Point Solo 3 charger starting from £509 for a Universal or £549 for a tethered charge point, including installation

The partnership will see Pod Point’s latest home charger, the 7kW Solo 3, offered to Onto subscribers at a discounted rate, enabling greater accessibility to charging infrastructure.

The preferential rate means subscribers can get a Solo 3 charger starting from £509 for a Universal or £549 for a tethered charge point, including installation. As well as providing up to 30 miles of range per hour, the charge point offers a range of additional features including charge scheduling, remote over-the-air updates and auto power balancing.

Onto already offers customers access to 12,000 public charging points through its partner networks, but the partnership will make EVs more accessible – almost 40% of Onto subscribers are considering a home charger, with 22% already using home-charging.

The announcement comes in the wake of government news mandating that EV chargers must be installed at all new build homes with associated parking in England.

Rob Jolly, co-founder and CEO at Onto, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Pod Point to improve charging accessibility as we know it’s a key priority for our customers. This is an exciting partnership for Onto as we focus on making the switch to a sustainable lifestyle simpler and navigating any anxieties around charging. EVs have a huge role to play in reducing the UK’s emissions and we’re committed to making the switch to electric as easy and accessible as possible.”

Launched in 2017, the Onto EV subscription service claims to have the largest electric car fleet in the UK, comprising some 5,500 cars, and is doubling in size every six months.

The all-inclusive monthly subscription service starts from £339 per month and subscriptions include insurance, service and maintenance, as well as the free charge point access via Onto’s partners.
