Electric vehicle advocates call for Californian plug-in vehicle bills to be rubber-stamped

The bills have already been passed by the California Legislature and are waiting for Governor Brown’s signature.

The bills comprise:

SB286 & AB266 – Extension of HOV access for plug-ins until 12/31/18 – a critical EV market incentive

SB359– Saves the CA CVRP Rebate Program and provides additional funding to last through June 2014

SB454 – EV Open Access – Charge at any paid charging station with a credit card, and know the price you'll pay

AB1092 – EV Building Standards – Moves the process forward for EV charging to be included in CA building code

AB8 – $2 billion for long-term state alternative fuels funding, including significant funding for EV related projects

The bills would further accelerate take-up of EVs in California, which is already the leading EV market in the US as well as the largest overall vehicle market.

California also has ambitious goals for further EV take-up. Its Zero Emissions Vehicle regulation (ZEV) requires that 1.4 million electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell vehicles be sold by 2025
