EO and Viridian join up for integrated EV charging and solar system on new builds
EO Charging is partnering with Viridian Solar to help housebuilders across the country meet new regulations.
Under the collaboration, EO will provide Viridian with its latest generation of domestic chargers, the EO Mini Pro 3. This will support housebuilders with latest building regulations which mean that new homes built across the UK must have energy-saving technologies such as solar panels as well as EV charging.
The distribution partnership agreement will see a co-branded version of the Mini Pro 3 made available to Viridian Solar’s customers, alongside EO’s new smartphone app.
This will provide customers with a charging capacity of 7kW ranging up to 22kW, allowing both overnight and high-speed charging. And the Viridian Solar model will also have solar power tracking as standard, enabling customers with solar panels to charge their vehicle with electricity generated purely from the sun.
Drivers can also control energy usage and access to the charger using EO’s iOS and Android smartphone app.
Tom Pollard, head of distribution sales at EO Charging, said: “Low-carbon technologies such as solar panels, battery storage and EVs are a critical element in helping the UK reach its 2030 net zero targets. Viridian is the perfect partner to help us ensure more EVs on our roads are powered by renewable energy.
“As V2G charging becomes a reality in the near future, we hope this collaboration will also enable homeowners and landlords to benefit from responsible energy usage, selling excess energy generated from solar panels – or fully charged EVs – back to the Grid at times of peak demand.”
The collaboration is also expected to enable development of products that better improve the integration of solar generation and EV charging.
