Europcar expands electric fleet with Polestar 4 SUV-coupé

The fully electric Polestar 4 is now available on Europcar Mobility Group UK’s fleet in a claimed market first for the UK rental sector.

The Polestar 4 delivers a long driving range of up to 385 miles (WLTP), as well as fast charging capability

Pitched as a “new breed of SUV coupé”, the Polestar 4 blends the aerodynamics of a coupé and the space of an SUV while also delivering up to 385 miles of WLTP range along with fast charging. The 100kWh battery is capable of charging at up to 200kW, giving a 10% to 80% charge in around 30 minutes.

It’s the latest addition to Europcar’s growing electric rental fleet and gives business and leisure drivers a commitment-free way to try out long-range electric motoring.

Tom Middleditch, head of electric mobility at Europcar, commented: “We are excited to add the innovative Polestar 4 to the Europcar fleet, with its long battery range and advanced driver assistance and infotainment features. This is a great introductory vehicle for even the most inexperienced electric car driver.

“Like Europcar, Polestar’s goal is to make electric driving accessible to as many drivers as possible so we’re excited to be the first major rental company to make it available for use for just a few days, weeks or months. It will give motorists a real-world ‘test drive’ experience.”

Europcar’s stress-free approach to vehicle charging for its electric rental fleet ensures customers do not have to worry about returning the vehicle with a full charge. Every electric vehicle is provided with a minimum 80% charge at the start of rental and the vehicle can be returned with just 20% battery charge.

“At Europcar we are continually increasing our range of low- and zero-tailpipe emission vehicle options available to our customers, facilitating a gradual transition towards zero-tailpipe emissions motoring in the coming years,” added Middleditch.

“The Europcar electric rental service is all about helping businesses and private motorists try electric driving in real-world conditions, before making a long-term investment to purchase a new vehicle.

“As such, it is vital that we provide our customers with access to a range of vehicles from value to premium, and from compact hatchback to luxury SUV to meet the requirements of every journey. The Polestar 4 is, therefore, the perfect addition.”
