EV and automotive tech innovators urged to apply for accelerator programme
Start-ups in the electric vehicle and automotive sector are being invited to apply for a new tech accelerator programme focused on tackling the climate emergency.
Open to all data-focused climate start-ups, the 2022 cohort is being run by climate tech accelerator Subak, which will provide successful applicants with up to £110k of funding and mentorship to help scale their organisation and mitigating the climate crisis.
Subak describes itself a business school that supercharges the growth of climate non-profits who all share their data and have the same mission – to protect the planet.
Founded by Baroness Bryony Worthington – who was the lead author of the 2008 Climate Change Act – the programme is already credited with having helped its five founding members achieve remarkable work with helping to solve the climate crisis.
This includes New AutoMotive. An increasingly familiar name in the fleet and automotive sector, New AutoMotive is a transport research group which supports the rapid uptake of electric vehicles in the UK by publishing new data about the transition; it’s credited with having helped support the government decision to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the UK from 2030.
Its work has been heavily supported by the Subak programme, which provided funding that was used to produce reports on the infrastructure and services required by EVs, such as mechanical and garage services, as well as the locations that most require charge points. The research has led to a dedicated project to work with local UK councils to improve their infrastructure development, EV charger site selection and consumer satisfaction.
Organisations selected for the 2022 programme will receive up to £110k of unrestricted grant funding, alongside structured business growth support through a 12-month programme. The accelerator will support 10 early-stage organisations across the UK and Australia in 2022. Individual Subak fellows can receive a £10k grant with an idea for an innovative, data-driven climate project.
Applications for the 2022 cohort can be submitted now here and will close on 5 January 2022. The programme is scheduled to begin in February 2022.
