Electric vehicle drivers are being asked for their views on the current state of public charging to help shape future developments.

EVA England is asking drivers to complete its survey on public charging and other EV-related issues, which will be used to shape its response to the OZEV consultation

The call comes from the Electric Vehicle Association England, which will use feedback from a new survey to shape its response to the current consultation from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), exploring ways to improve the experience for electric vehicle drivers at public charge points.

The proposals aim to ensure reliable charge points are easy to find and payments for charging are streamlined. OZEV is also seeking views on other important charging-related issues, such as weatherproofing, signage, lighting and accessibility.

To ensure drivers’ voice is heard, EVA England is asking drivers to complete its own survey to provide their input on public charging and other EV-related issues.

The survey should take no more than 10 minutes and the feedback, which will be anonymised and analysed, will be used to feed into EVA England’s response to the Government’s consultation.

Gill Nowell, director of EVA England, commented: “A mass market for electric cars and vans is just around the corner and if we don’t address a host of basic issues for drivers now, we won’t get consumer buy-in for this historic transition. We strongly support this consultation and are running this survey to provide evidence for the Government on where it needs to intervene and how.

“We encourage all current EV drivers to take our survey, including those with battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. This is an important opportunity for EV drivers to have their voice heard on topics close to their heart, namely ‘can I find a charger, can I easily pay, and does it work’?”
