A new home charger sharing service has officially launched in the island of Ireland to make EV charging affordable, convenient and accessible.

Drivers can book and rent private EV home chargers in their neighbourhood via the app

The GoPlugable app-based marketplace goes live following a successful beta testing phase and says it’s committed to becoming all-Ireland’s largest private EV charging network.

Supported by local enterprises including Enterprise Ireland and Techstart NI, the initiative was co-founded some 11 months ago by Queen’s University Belfast and Dundalk Institute of Ireland alumni, Maebh Reynolds and Andrine Mendez.

The service is dedicated to facilitating the transition to electric vehicles for drivers who lack access to personal home chargers

As with other home charging sharing services in the UK, the solution provides a platform for charger hosts and EV drivers to share and rent private EV charging stations. Drivers can use the app to search for home EV chargers in their neighbourhood, schedule and book sessions and pay the host.

GoPlugable has raised a total of £150,000 in grants and competitions to support its work and is initiating new fundraising initiatives to fuel its growth and impact. The business is inviting angel investors and funds to be a part of its current live fundraising round of £750,000.
