EVs clear up at World Car Awards
Nissan collected the 2011 World Car of the Year for the Leaf, commended for making fully electric motoring no more challenging than a conventional car and beating 39 other contenders to the title.
The Volt collected World Green Car for meeting the commuting demands of an even wider audience, allowing drivers to switch to electric power without having to run a second car.
Now in their seventh year, the World Car Awards are voted for by an international jury panel of 66 motoring journalists from 24 different countries. For more information, visit wcoty.com.
