Facelifted Volkswagen ID.3 available from £37,115
Volkswagen’s heavily updated ID.3 electric hatch is now available to order, priced from £37,115.
The upgrades arrive just two and a half years since the model first launched and answer key consumer criticisms with software, technology and cabin materials. The upgraded model also introduces new exterior styling, including larger air intakes and a longer-looking bonnet.
Just two trims are available now: the Pro and the Pro S. Both use a powertrain with a 204hp single rear-mounted motor and a 58kWh battery on the Pro and 77kWh pack on the Pro S, giving a WLTP range of up to 347 miles. The smaller battery can be charged at up to 120kW, giving a 5 to 80% charge in 25 minutes while the Pro S gets an increased speed of up to 170kW, giving a charging time of within 30 minutes.
Other changes for the facelifted version include a completely animal-free interior – supporting the brand’s sustainability strategy for its all-electric ID. family – as well as a new Dark Olivine Green iridescent metallic paint colour choice and the introduction of option packs, which are available for both trims and group together popular options according to personal preferences. As an example, the Exterior Pack allows new two-part LED tail-light clusters on the tailgate instead of reflectors.
“The new ID.3 marks the next exciting step in Volkswagen’s electrification journey,” said Phil Taylor, head of product planning at Volkswagen UK. “This fantastic car, with its numerous improvements, demonstrates clearly our commitment to value, design and sustainability.”
The ID.3 was the first model to arrive in the ID. family in the UK, which now also includes the ID.4, ID.5 and ID. Buzz.
These will be joined by the ID.7 saloon from the autumn, while the production version of the ID. 2all concept is due on sale in 2025 and expected to carry a sub-£22k price tag. This will be followed by a compact electric SUV in 2026 – the carmaker says it will have the widest range of electric vehicles compared with its competitors, and it’s also aiming to achieve an electric car share of 80% in Europe.
