Fastned has launched its first ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging station in London, supporting the capital’s plans to become a net-zero city by 2030.

It’s Fastned’s first station to launch in London and its 11th in the UK

Located off the Woolwich Road in Greenwich, the new station has six bays delivering 300kW of renewable energy, providing electric vehicles with 186 miles (300km) of range in 15 minutes and able to take payment via a range of methods.

It also features a highly visible solar canopy that helps EV drivers to locate the site and stay dry while charging.

It’s Fastned’s first station to launch in London and its 11th in the UK, following last month’s opening of Scotland’s biggest ultra-rapid charging station in Hamilton, Glasgow.

The new station will cater for local drivers, including private and commercial vehicles, as well as drivers passing through the Blackwall tunnel.

Tom Hurst, UK country manager for Fastned, said: “We’ve developed significant expertise in providing ultra-rapid charging across Europe and in the North East of England, so we’re excited to bring this experience to the capital.

“London’s target of hitting net-zero by 2030 is ambitious, and we’re delighted to play a part in supporting the capital as it transitions.”
