Fiat confirms 2024 UK launch for Topolino electric two-seater

Fiat has announced that its Topolino electric quadricycle will make it to the UK in 2024, answering demand for zero-emission mobility with a compact footprint.

The Topolino is planned to arrive in the UK in 2024

Revealed at the end of May, the Topolino is based on the Citroën Ami and features the same diminutive size – it’s just 2.53m long. As with the Ami, the powertrain teams up an 8hp motor on the front axle with a 5.5kWh battery. This gives up to 47 miles of range – one mile more than the Ami – along with a charging time of less than four hours and top speed of 28mph.

The name of the vehicle harks back to the original Fiat 500 which finished production in 1955 and was commonly referred to as Topolino. Design features such as the headlights draw on the 500’s heritage.

It will be available in two versions: a standard ‘closed’ Topolino and the ‘open’ Dolce Vita which replaces the doors with ropes and comes with a soft top.

Both will be available with just one Verde Vita colour, one wheel design, one interior, plus just five optional accessories: a rack bag, a USB fan, a Bluetooth speaker, a thermal water bottle for both hot and cold drinks, and two seat covers that convert into beach towels.

It’s described by Fiat as an ideal solution for urban and short-range mobility, and aimed at Gen Z buyers who have a strong focus on environmentally friendly driving and transport solutions. According to the brand, the Topolino will make young people fall in love with their ‘cars’ again.

As with the Ami, UK vehicles will be adapted for local use, but will remain left-hand drive. Drivers will also require a full UK driving licence, unlike in France where the Ami can be driven by anyone over the age of 14 and is available on car sharing schemes.

Prices are yet to be confirmed but are likely to mirror the Citroën Ami’s £7,695, while a cargo version could also arrive later.
