Comprising 53 Twizy quadricycles and 17 Kangoo Z.E. vans, the delivery means 60% of the city’s fleet are now electric, and the newcomers will be supported by a network of 91 charging points to be installed at municipal offices across Florence.

Charging point rollout is set to ramp up significantly in coming years, with 147 dual-outlet points planned in the near future, half of which will support rapid charging, to support private buyers and business fleets making the switch to electromobility.

Dario Nardella, mayor of the city of Florence, said: “This delivery of a Renault Z.E. fleet is a first step towards the implementation of our program supporting EV use. Florence is a beautiful city with a great historical centre and the environment has always been our priority. We have to lead the way.

Promoting electro mobility helps respect the environment, reduce acoustic pollution, and contributes to preserving our cultural heritage, damaged everyday by car exhaust gases.”

Among the 53 Twizys deployed in Florence is the 15,000th sold by Renault since the quadricycle went on sale in 2012, spread across 40 countries.
