Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV delivers 68-mile range

Ford has expanded the line-up for its Tourneo Connect MPV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV

It’s available for both the five-seat Tourneo Connect and the longer seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect and delivers up to 68 miles of electric-only range and four different drive modes.

The powertrain teams up a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, high-voltage battery and electric motor, delivering a combined 150hp and 350Nm of torque through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The battery can be fast-charged at up to 50kW using DC public chargers, or fully recharged at home using AC charging up to 11kW.

The Tourneo Connect PHEV is available in the same three grades as the petrol- and diesel-powered models. Entry-level Trend comes with a digital cockpit with twin 10-inch displays and connectivity via the Sync infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Advanced driver assistance systems are also carried over from standard Tourneo Connect models and include Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane-Keeping System and Exit Warning.

Titanium adds chrome highlights, roof rails, tinted windows and more driver assistance. The top-rung Active features rugged SUV styling, panorama roof and machined-face 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV joins the existing fully electric E-Tourneo Courier and E-Tourneo Custom models and the Tourneo Custom Plug-in Hybrid in Ford’s people mover line-up.

Drivers can also use the FordPass app to see remaining electric driving range, battery charge levels and charge time until full. The app also enables maintenance alerts, remote door locking and unlocking, and displays the last known parking time and location to help avoid fines.

Rich Hughes, Tourneo brand manager, Ford, Europe, said: “Tourneo Connect is all about capability and flexibility, and the new PHEV option adds more of both. Whether doing the school run, going on adventures or even using it as a work vehicle, Tourneo Connect PHEV’s generous electric driving range means that it can electrify many of the journeys in our customers’ busy lifestyles.”

Order books for Tourneo Connect PHEV open later in summer 2024, with initial deliveries expected during the final quarter of the year.
