Free charging for all EVs at Tesla Superchargers

By / 1 year ago / UK News / No Comments

Tesla is enabling all EV owners to charge for free today (29 August 2023) on its anniversary in Europe.

Tesla’s free charging offer launches exactly 10 years after the opening of the first Supercharger stations in Europe

Launched exactly 10 years after the opening of the first Supercharger stations in Europe, the offer applies from 8am BST to 22:59 BST and forms part of Tesla’s Electric Summer celebrations.

On 29 August 2013, the first six stations opened in Norway. A decade later, the network spans 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with well over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers.

Since its launch, Tesla has enhanced the user experience through greater integration of the network in the cars and the Tesla app. It’s also expanded and upgraded the network while ensuring reliability; uptime stood at 99.95% in 2022.

More than 70% of the network is now open to all EVs in Europe and the Middle East. This initiative started in November 2021 as part of a pilot programme and is now a fully fledged offering, Europe with over 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations currently accepting all EVs. This makes it the biggest ultra-fast charging network in Europe. It’s now also launched its new-generation V4 Supercharger, able to supply up to 250kW and able to be used by anyone with a CCS charging port thanks to its contactless payment terminal in the UK.

Tesla’s Electric Summer celebrations started in July and ramped in August with Drive-In Cinema events organised in a few European cities. Another Drive-In cinema event is happening in Bergen today and activities will peak on 1 September with the 10-year celebration happening near Oslo and including an exhibition about Tesla’s product ecosystem.

Today’s free charging offering applies in 26 markets in Europe and the Middle East, including the UK. Full details are here.
