Free EV infrastructure service to help local authorities build robust charging strategy
A new service offering comprehensive information on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure is now available for local authorities.
The National EV Insight and Strategy (NEVIS) service, developed by low-carbon vehicle consultancy Cenex, can help inform and build an effective charge point deployment strategy for councils.
It supports charging roll-out with essential quantitative information including projected EV uptake, future demand for EVI, and revenue and emission impacts.
English LAs get free access to the service as part of the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund, which launched as part of the EV Infrastructure Strategy earlier this year and provides funding to help expand charge point provision. The data from the NEVIS service can help LAs put together comprehensive funding applications.
The LEVI Support Body, formed of Cenex, Energy Saving Trust and PA Consulting, provides expert technical and commercial support to enable successful LEVI applications for a share of the £400m capital grant scheme administered by OZEV.
Chris Rimmer, infrastructure strategy lead at Cenex, said: “Any good strategy is grounded in reliable and accurate information, and the NEVIS service means all local authorities can now access and use the relevant data to build a robust EVI Strategy.
“It shows LAs the status of the vehicle parc, emissions, EV uptake and charge points in their area, and a range of projections for future EV uptake so that they can stay ahead of the curve and ensure there is enough public EVI to meet future demand.
“A comprehensive strategy is essential for a high-quality LEVI Fund application, which will deliver on the sustainability targets set out by Government and support the transition to low-emission transport.”
Registration is free for English LAs at nevis.cenex.co.uk – non-English LAs and non-LAs can contact Cenex to find out how to access it.
