Glenmorangie goes electric with Nissan Ariya coupé crossovers
One of the world’s most famous whisky distilleries is making the transition to electric motoring with the help of Nissan.
The Glenmorangie Company, which operates in a number of locations across Scotland, is adding two Nissan Ariya all-electric coupé crossovers to its fleet of pool cars, supporting a wider move to electric vehicles.
Glenmorangie’s world-famous distillery is in Tain, Ross-shire, while its bottling hall is in Livingston, West Lothian. Also part of the Glenmorangie family is the Ardbeg distillery on the Isle of Islay, Argyll and Bute.
The team at Glenmorangie opted for the Nissan Ariya due to their familiarity with the Nissan brand and confidence in the car’s quality and reliability.
Staff are required to travel between the various sites as required, and one of the Nissans will be assigned to the Ardbeg distillery with the other will be based at the Livingston bottling hall, which also recently gained number of EV charging points under a multi-million-pound renovation.
Sandy Fraser, estates and workplace, employee experience manager at The Glenmorangie Company, explained that the pool car review was part of a wider exercise to improve colleagues’ working arrangements across the organisation.
He said: “Before moving to fully electric vehicles, our pool cars had been run in partnership with various leasing companies, all of whom were doing a good job for us but were operating in different ways.
“We decided we would rather have one provider so opted for Athlon. We have also invested significantly in the infrastructure we need at our sites to make it possible.”
Karen Reid, national corporate sales manager, Nissan Fleet Sales, commented: “Glenmorangie has made impressive strides in its decarbonisation journey in recent years and the team there deserve huge credit for their efforts.
“We’re delighted to be a chosen manufacturer partner as they add EVs to their vehicle parc and we look forward to our relationship continuing for many years to come.”
