Go Zero unveils Solar Mode for sustainable EV charging
EV charging business Go Zero has launched a new Solar Mode, enabling users to draw on the power of solar energy to fuel their electric vehicles.
Users with solar panels can now activate Solar Mode within the Go Zero app, diverting excess electricity to charge their vehicles.
Currently in Beta, Solar Mode automatically redirects surplus solar power to the user’s plugged-in vehicle. The system continuously monitors and adjusts energy flow every 60 seconds to ensure efficient usage.
Powered by Optimus’s smart charging control, Solar Mode enables efficient energy management. If solar export decreases or household energy consumption exceeds solar production, EV charging pauses automatically. Users also have the option to supplement charging with grid power as needed.
Solar Mode also accommodates users’ night-time charging preferences while leveraging solar energy benefits. Customers can set night schedules for charging, with the flexibility to capitalise on cheaper tariffs during off-peak hours. During peak solar production months, users can choose to exclusively charge their vehicles with solar power by deactivating night charging.
“We are thrilled to introduce Solar Mode as a significant step towards achieving our vision of sustainable driving,” said David Wells, CEO of Go Zero. “By empowering users to harness solar energy for transportation, we are not only driving positive change towards a greener future, but also lowering costs for consumers.”
