Halfords has teamed up with Cord to offer fully fitted at-home EV charging for under £1,000.

The new service covers everything from authorisation, registration and full compliance with regulations

Its new service is intended to streamline the installation of home EV charging – and includes everything from authorisation, registration and full compliance with regulations.

Customers can now book Cord’s home charging installation directly through the Halfords website and the service includes a free home survey and installation within two weeks. More than nine in 10 installations are ‘standard’ and any additional work required is agreed with the customer in advance, meaning no hidden costs of unexpected fees – a common complaint from those getting EV chargers installed.

Halfords said the solution will demystify EV home charging for customers and provide a simple and affordable solution. It’s also offering a further £50 reduction for Black Friday, said to bring the cost to under £1,000 with the discount included.

Cord also handles authorisation and registration with the appropriate organisations as well as all customer communications and full compliance with UK Smart Charging Regulations 2023.

Richard Bruce, commercial director of Halfords, commented: “At Halfords, we believe in making electric vehicle ownership as easy as possible. For many drivers, a key concern around EVs is charging. We want to help demystify this for our customers, and this partnership will offer a simple, affordable and easy solution for those transitioning or considering transitioning to an EV.”
