Chinese carmaker Hongqi has announced prices for its EH7 and EHS7 electric cars following its official debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The brand, part of the state-owned FAW Group, says it has “ambitious plans” for the European market and has also confirmed that a launch in the UK is in the pipeline.

The carmaker – which launched in 1958 and whose name means ‘red flag’ – “aims to redefine luxury automotive experiences with its cutting-edge technology and commitment to sustainability”.

It’s also positioning itself as a “formidable player in the premium electric vehicle segment”.

First to come will be the EH7 saloon and EHS7 SUV debuted at Paris. These are built on the TianGong electric platform, which supports both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations, enabling scalable performance across different vehicle types. It uses CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology and high-rate battery cells that deliver a claimed range of up to 800km (497 miles).

The EH7 and EHS7 have WLTP ranges of 655km (406 miles) and 600km (372 miles), respectively, and feature fast-charging technology that allows charging from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes.

Hongqi has now revealed the pricing of the vehicles, with the EH7 starting at €49,999 (c.£41,600), and the EHS7 at €53,999 (c£45,000).

Over the next five years, the company aims to launch an additional 10 new models, demonstrating its “commitment to meeting the growing demand for high-quality, intelligent, and eco-friendly vehicles among European and global consumers”.

The luxury-focused carmaker has also said it will be partnering with Car East France to strengthen its dealership network across the region. The brand is establishing a comprehensive after-sales network throughout Europe and says it has service centres in 29 countries, including Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Iceland and Sweden.

Liu Changqing, vice president of Hongqi Brand Operation Committee FAW, said: “The introduction of the EH7 and EHS7 in Europe represents our commitment to delivering exceptional luxury electric vehicles that blend advanced technology with exquisite design. We are excited to offer European consumers a new standard in electric mobility.”
