Humax has launched its second-generation EV charger designed for the domestic and fleet markets in the UK.

The MX7 V2G-ready models are suitable for both home and commercial EV charging

The MX7 V2G-ready EV charger enables users to benefit from vehicle-to-grid functionality, along with multiple energy-saving and cost-optimising features.

Suitable for both home and commercial charging, the 7kW chargers will be available as socket-type and tethered models from June 2025.

The technology features an integrated Power Line Communication (PLC) module and ISO 15118 protocol for bi-directional charging through digital communication with EVs. This delivers vehicle identification and future-ready V2G capabilities, enabling intelligent, efficient charging compatible with most EV tariffs to optimise electricity costs.

The MX7 range has been engineered to support continuous software updates, facilitating the addition of new smart features and future compliance.

The MX7 supports Auto Charge via ISO 15118, enabling the driver to just plug and start charging, eliminating the need for RFID cards or apps. For businesses, vehicle recognition streamlines the tracking of company car charging at employees’ homes, making reimbursements easier. The system also integrates with leading third-party platforms and apps.

All future Humax EV charger models will be equipped with an integrated PLC module with ISO 15118 as standard.

Humax MX7 chargers are compatible with most EV tariffs, helping users reduce electricity costs by charging during off-peak hours. Solar-compatible, they can also use surplus power from home solar systems for greener, more economical charging and also come with smart scheduling and adjustable charge levels.

Safety features include integrated temperature sensors, overcharge detection and tamper protection.

The MX7 model range is also fully compliant with all UK regulations (OZEV) and requirements, and designed for easy set-up.

All MX7 chargers include up to five-year manufacturer’s warranty and access to a UK-based support centre.

Jeff Kim, president of Humax, commented: “With this launch, we continue our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the EV ecosystem, empowering users to optimise their energy consumption and costs while contributing to a greener future.”

The MX7 series will be available at £649 for the socket version, £669 for the tethered model with 5m cable and £699 tethered with 7m cable. All prices are suggested retail and include VAT.
