Hyundai has updated the Ioniq 5 with a new larger battery and extra equipment for the 2023 model year. 

The updated Ioniq 5 line-up now includes a new 77kWh battery, along with several range enhancements and new features

First launched in February 2021, the fully electric compact crossover is now available with a 77kWh battery. Priced from £45,400 OTR, it replaces the previous 73kWh unit and increases range from 280 miles to 315 while power rises to 228hp for rear-wheel drive models and 325hp for all-wheel drive versions.  

It’s sold alongside the existing 58kWh rear-wheel drive model, which delivers 238 miles and 170hp of power.  

Other updates for the new model include the addition of video-based digital interior and exterior mirrors. Mounted in the Ioniq 5’s rear spoiler, the Digital Centre Mirror (DCM) gives an unobstructed, panoramic rear-facing view of the car, optimising visibility.  

New battery heater and conditioning feature is also now standard across the range, enabling the car 5 to adapt its battery temperature while travelling to support optimal charging conditions when reaching the charging point. This improves real-life charging performance in hot or cold weather.  

A new top-rung trim also debuts. Dubbed the Namsan Edition, it features a full-length vision roof along with leather upholstery and relaxation seats. It also marks the brand’s European debut of Digital Side Mirrors (DSM), which reduce air resistance and provide an enhanced rear view. 

It sits above the existing SE Connect, Premium and Ultimate trims. The lead-in SE Connect trim, which is solely available with the 58kWh model, has been repriced as part of the range realignment and is now available from £39,400. Standard equipment includes front multi-function reflector and rear LED lamps, 12.3-inch audio and navigation with Bluelink connectivity, wireless device charging and adaptive cruise control, plus smart frequency dampers to enhance handling. 

Premium models are priced from £41,900 with the 58kWh battery RWD or £45,400 for the 77kWh RWD and now get new standard equipment. This includes the Vehicle to Load (V2L) system, previously a cost option, plus part-leather upholstery and an upgraded soft touch interior including 64 colour ambient lighting and sliding centre console. It also includes a standard full display mirror that also uses a camera positioned inside the vehicle spoiler to project a real-time display onto the interior mirror. Also available on the Premium is the optional heat pump. 

The Ultimate model is now priced from £48,400 and now includes the previous cost options of blind view monitor and surround view monitor as standard, along with 20-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, heated and ventilated front seats, with heated rear, Bose premium sound system and augmented reality head up display. Customer options include the Heat Pump as well as a revised Tech Pack with Remote Smart Park Assist (RSPA), Parking Collision Avoidance (PCA), automatic flush door handles, driver seat position memory function and relaxation seats on both driver and passenger seats. 

The new range-topping Namsan Edition is available with the new 77kWh battery in both rear- and all-wheel drive guises, priced from £52,900 and £56,400 respectively. It includes the Digital Side Mirrors and standard full-length vision roof, plus both the Heat Pump and Tech Pack as standard.
