The Inster four-seater debuted last year, marked as the brand’s first small EV SUV for the UK and also Hyundai’s first fully electrified city car. Priced from £23,495 for the standard version, or £25,045 for the Long Range model, it delivers a rival to models such as the Dacia Spring, Citroën ë-C3 and the upcoming Leapmotor T03.

The beefed-up Inster Cross now joins it, completing the line-up and adding outdoor-focused interior and exterior design. These include special bumpers, embossed black claddings and skid plates, completed by bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails as standard, along with an exclusive Amazonas Green Matte exterior colour.

Inside, Inster Cross offers a special colour and trim combination: grey cloth with lime-yellow accents and complemented by lime-yellow accents on the dashboard.

Priced from £28,745, it’s solely available with the Long Range powertrain, teaming up a 49kWh battery and 115hp front motor, giving up to 223 miles on a single charge (compared to 229 miles for the Inster standard version). It’s able to charge at up to 85kW DC, giving a 10-80% charge in 58 minutes. Charging time at an 11kW three-phase wallbox is four hours 35 minutes while the duration at a 7.4kW wallbox is still to be announced.

As with the Inster 01 and 02 models, a battery heating system and heat pump is fitted as standard, to both optimise range and charging times.

A single trim level is available. Equipment includes full projection LED headlights, heated door mirrors with power-folding function and electric adjustment, heated front seats and steering wheel, ambient lighting, automatic dimming rear view mirror, keyless entry with start/stop button and an electric-opening glass sunroof. The optional Tech Pack adds vehicle-to-load functionality with an internal three-pin plug, and a Digital Key.

Onboard technology delivers front and rear parking sensors with rear camera and parking guidance system, smart cruise control with stop and go function, Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen display with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluelink connected car services, front and rear USB-C charging ports and a wireless phone charging pad.

Safety features include blind spot collision avoidance assist, blind spot view monitor, surround view monitor, forward collision avoidance assist, highway drive assist, intelligent speed limit assist, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, parking collision avoidance assist – reverse.

Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai and Genesis UK, said: “With its distinct styling and segment-leading technology, Inster is already an exciting proposition. The Inster Cross only furthers that versatility and appeal with its bold design and added features, and continues to showcase Hyundai’s position as an industry leader in electrification.”
