Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV SUV on sale with CO2 from 37g/km

Hyundai’s new Santa Fe SUV is now on sale in the UK, with a choice of hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains and CO2 emissions starting from 37g/km.

The new Santa Fe, priced from £40,250, is particularly expected to appeal to fleets due to its increased space and equipment as well as its standard seven-seat layout and the range-first addition of the hybrid

The large SUV has been on sale in the UK since 2001 and the new model, priced from £40,250, is particularly expected to appeal to fleets due to its increased space and equipment as well as its standard seven-seat layout and the range-first addition of the hybrids.

Both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are based on a new 180hp 1.6-litre T-GDi turbo petrol. In the case of the hybrid, this is married up with a 60hp motor, giving a total 230hp output and 350Nm of torque, powered by a 1.49kWh battery. Emissions start from 145g/km with the standard six-speed auto and two-wheel drive, rising to 159g/km in four-wheel drive guise, which includes intelligent torque distribution and four drive modes.

The plug-in hybrid marries up the turbo petrol with a larger 91hp motor, giving a total 265hp of power and 304Nm of torque and paired with the six-speed auto and four-wheel drive as standard. Details of the larger-capacity battery are yet to be announced but the plug-in hybrid has an electric-only range of 36 miles / 69km. Along with its 37g/km CO2 emissions, this places it in the 10% Benefit-in-Kind bracket for 2021/21 and 11% for 2021/22.

Both powertrains are offered in two trims: Premium and Ultimate. Premium comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control with stop/go function, smart key with keyless entry and start/stop button, rear parking system with rear camera and guidance system, Krell premium sound system and 10.25-inch infotainment system with subscription-free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and access to Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car services with a five-year subscription. It also gets a smart electric tailgate with hands-free operation.

The Ultimate also adds in a surround view monitor parking system with parking collision avoidance assist, remote smart parking assist, 12.3-inch drivers instrument cluster, head-up display, blind spot view monitor and highway drive assist.

The new Santa Fe also includes a range of driver assistance features, including blind spot collision assist, downhill brake control, driver attention alert, and forward collision avoidance assist with car, pedestrian, cycle and junction turning functions.

All new Santa Fe models also come with Hyundai’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty, which comes with roadside assistance package, five-year annual health check, and 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
