EV charge point network InstaVolt says it’s on track to become the largest owner-operated rapid charging network later this year, boosted by rapid rollout.

InstaVolt CEO Adrian Keen

The network, which has already expanded by over 50% in the last year, has plans in place to expand coverage across the country and will achieve 1,000 chargers this summer.

The milestone comes as it readies to deploy its 700th charger later this month, with a further 200-plus in construction.

Its pipeline of new sites is being developed with partner-landlords that include McDonald’s, Costa Coffee, EH Booths and KFC.

InstaVolt is also about to launch its first expansion project as it installs eight additional chargers at its hub on the M40 in Banbury.

During 2022 the network will also launch its first rapid chargers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

InstaVolt said its focus is on a network that covers the whole of the UK and supports drivers in delivering easy-to-use, reliable rapid chargers at convenient locations.

Chief executive officer Adrian Keen commented: “Improving public charging infrastructure across the whole of the UK is vital for people to feel confident enough to make the switch to electric vehicles. I’m proud to be spearheading the delivery of more rapid chargers to all four corners of the UK.”

He added: “Not only does the UK need more chargers, but those chargers need to be reliable, in great locations and easy to use. The InstaVolt network delivers these requirements to drivers, as well as corporate fleets making the transition to electric.”
