Ionity and Holiday Inn have opened the first of six planned ultra-rapid charging hubs across the UK.

The Holiday Inn Doncaster is now equipped with six 350kW chargers

Located at Holiday Inn Doncaster at the A1 junction 36, the site is equipped with six 350kW chargers, alongside the hotel’s amenities for EV drivers, hotel guests and the public. The Holiday Inn Doncaster features a Proud to Serve Starbucks, a gym, workspaces with WiFi, and essential facilities such as toilets.

It will be joined by new Ionity hubs at Holiday Inn locations to be rolled out throughout the year and in 2025.

The partnership will actively encourage general and EV footfall at the sites while helping drive sustainability forward in.

Andreas Atkins, Ionity’s country manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “This innovative partnership represents a new chapter in the way we think about sustainable travel, making EV driving easier and more convenient while also creating community hubs that everyone can enjoy.”

Dr Sanjiv Patel, CEO of Mayfield Hospitality and Westgate Healthcare, which owns Holiday Inn in Doncaster, said: “We are proud to partner with Ionity to bring high-speed electric vehicle chargers to Doncaster. This initiative aligns perfectly with our strategy of supporting innovation and advancing our commitment to sustainability.”
