Kia’s flagship 585hp EV6 GT tackles famous hillclimb at Goodwood
The Kia EV6 GT – the most powerful Kia ever made – has made its dynamic debut at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, demonstrating its “segment-defining” performance.
The all-electric crossover is displaying its prowess on the festival’s famous hillclimb several times across the weekend with rally pro Jade Paveley at the wheel, enabling tens of thousands of visitors and the world at large to see its impressive performance first-hand.
The flagship model features a dual-motor powertrain that delivers 585hp and 740Nm torque, delivering a rather pacy 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 162mph (260km/h).
It also has a bespoke ‘GT’ mode, activated via a button on the steering wheel and putting the vehicle’s motors, braking, steering, suspension, e-LSD and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems into their most dynamic settings. Drivers can also use a ‘My Drive’ mode to tailor settings.
Between drives, the EV6 GT is on display in the festival’s ‘First Glance Paddock’, while the all-new Kia Niro EV is also on static display in the ‘Electric Avenue’ area, showcasing the brand’s electrification plans. Kia already offers 10 electrified (hybrid, plug-in-hybrid and electric) models – one of the most comprehensive electrified line-ups in the UK today – and is planning to offer 14 EVs globally by 2027.
Its bold work on electrification helped push the brand to its best-ever EV sales in 2021, and EVs have made up almost one in five (18%) of Kia’s total UK sales so far in 2022.
