London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has announced a battery upgrade for new TX taxis and VN5 vans, lowering CO2 and improving range.

VN5 emissions drop from 19g/km to 17g/km, thanks to the new, more efficient battery

The 34.6kWh battery is fitted as standard on all new LEVC vehicles and offers increased capacity – up from 31kWh – and greater efficiency

Thanks to the new battery, the VN5 now emits 17g/km (down from 19g/km), while the TX taxi emissions drop from 19g/km to 14g/km.

It also boosts electric-only and total range for drivers too. The VN5’s electric-only range now stands at 73 miles (up from 64 miles), with a 328-mile total (up from 318 miles). The TX’s electric-only range is now 78 miles (up from 64 miles) and its total range increases to 333 miles (up from 318 miles).

Alex Nan, CEO of LEVC, commented: “The updated battery further bolsters the already compelling business case for our customers, with significant benefits for drivers, owner operator, while helping to improve air quality in urban environments.”

Earlier this month, LEVC announced that it’s working to transform itself into a leading provider of e-mobility solutions with the help of new pure electric vehicle technology.

Its Space Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a modular and scalable platform, said to set new standards for onboard space and offering multiple seating and load-carrying configurations. This will enable LEVC to enter new sectors outside of the existing TX and VN5 models.
