Lexus UX 300e gets lower price and revamped trims
Lexus has given the electric UX 300e another update, cutting the entry price slightly and revising the trim line-up.
The compact SUV, launched three years ago as Lexus’ first all-electric model, had already had over £7k shaved off its starting price earlier this year and the latest line-up now starts from £39,995; £800 lower than before and ensuring it escapes the UK’s expensive car supplement additional VED charge that arrives for EVs over £40k from April 2025.
The new-look line-up also offers additional grades and adjusted equipment specifications, together with styling changes for the cabin. All models feature a 72.8kWh lithium-ion battery that feeds a 204hp electric motor on the front axle, giving a range of up to 279 miles.
The renamed entry point to the UX 300e is Urban grade. It comes with standard features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, reversing camera and the Lexus Link Connect multimedia system with cloud-based navigation and eight-inch touchscreen. As with all models, it features a new 7.0-inch digital diver’s instrument display while the latest-generation Safety System+ active safety and driver assistance systems are also included.
Second up is the new Premium grade, priced at £41,995 and adding rear privacy glass, illuminated door handles with puddle lights, front and rear parking sensors, a driver monitor, Smart Entry, power back door, LED front fog lights and roof rails.
The mid-level Premium Plus UX 300e grade is priced at £43,995 and delivers 18-inch alloys, aluminium scuff plates, an auto-tilt function for the door mirrors when reversing, a wireless smartphone charger, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front and outer rear seats and front seat ventilation. Additional safety features include safe exit assist, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert with auto-braking, while the rear hazard lights have an auto-flashing function if an impact from an approaching vehicle is detected.
Premium Plus Tech is another new grade. Priced at £46,495, it’s – as the name suggests – focused on additional technology features. These include the Lexus Link Pro multimedia system with embedded navigation, in addition to the cloud-accessed navigation, and a 12.3-inch display, 13-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound audio system and a 12.3-inch driver’s digital instrument display.
The top-rung Takumi version is priced at £50,995 and goes the full monty with smooth leather upholstery, a 360-degree panoramic view monitor, hands-free power back door, head-up display, sunroof and three-eye LED headlights with adaptive high-beam system.
Alongside the new grades, the UX 300e delivers slight cabin changes that include redesigned interior surfaces with a plusher feel and a new gun metallic paint finish. The new Tahara synthetic leather upholstery is available in black, hazel and white ash colour choices, while the Takumi model’s smooth leather gets a new Ammonite Sand option. Exterior paint choices now include a Sonic Copper special metallic option.
