Based in Canary Wharf, the company has a fleet of top-spec Nissan LEAFs and targets price parity with minicabs for short journeys and executive chauffeur services for longer trips. Customers are provided with a CO2 saving figure, using Energy Saving Trust data, after every journey.

GoldPower will measure the energy used by the eConnect cars fleet, and offset it with sustainable electricity generation through tidal, solar and wind power in projects across the globe. Its work has been recognised by an endorsement by the WWF, and the company is reportable as zero emissions under the Carbon Disclosure project.

Alistair Clarke, CEO of eConnect cars, said: ‘We wanted our service to be as sustainable as possible. All of our cars are 100% electric, so there are no tailpipe emissions. Now, we are taking it one step further with GoldPower. For every MWh of energy we use, one MWh of energy is generated from renewable sources like solar, wind and hydro power.’
