Vauxhall’s new longer-range Mokka Electric crossover is now on sale, delivering greater efficiency, increased range and improved performance.

The new Long-Range variant joins the existing version and features a new 156hp electric motor that enables acceleration from 0-62mph in 9 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the 136PS powertrain) and achieves a top-speed of 93mph.

Already seen in models such as the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer Electric, the powertrain is rounded out by a next-generation 54kWh lithium-ion battery, a new heat pump and a focus on efficiency. These help the new arrival to deliver a WLTP range of up to 252 miles – up by 20% on the current version – and a miles per kW figure of 4.0-4.1 miles per kWh (WLTP Combined Low-High).

The existing Mokka Electric model remains available; it features a 136PS motor, along with a 50kWh battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 209 miles.

Prices for the Mokka Electric start from £36,610, with the new Long Range variant available for an extra £1,000 across each trim level.

As with the rest of the fully electric Vauxhall range, the Mokka Electric Long Range supports 100kW DC rapid charging, with a 20%-80% charge taking just 27 minutes to complete. It comes with a three-phase 11kW AC onboard charger as standard, enabling a 20-80% charge in 3 hours 10 minutes from an 11kW public charger, or 4 hours 40 minutes from a 7kW home wallbox.

It also delivers a choice of three driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sport – and the option of enhanced regenerative braking to preserve range, activated by pressing ‘B’ mode via a button on the gear selector.

Drivers can choose from three trim levels: Design, GS and Ultimate.

Entry-level Design models come with features such as 17-inch silver alloy wheels, the Multimedia Pure Panel system with seven-inch colour touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic rear-view camera and rear sensors. Design features include LED head and tail lights, LED daytime running lights and high beam assist, while driver-assistance tech includes lane departure warning with lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver drowsiness alert, cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

GS trim adds in sporty design details, such as 18-inch bi-colour alloy wheels with red accents, dark-tinted rear windows, a black roof and headliner, black Griffin logo and Vizor frame and bespoke red detailing. The Multimedia Pure Panel Navigation system upgrades to a 10-inch colour touchscreen with sat-nav and 12-inch digital instrument cluster. It also gains a heated steering wheel, heated front seats and dual-zone electronic climate control.

Top-range Ultimate versions deliver goodies such as 18-inch alloy wheels, IntelliLux LED Matrix headlights, keyless entry and start and a massage function for the driver’s seat. Driver assistance upgrades bring adaptive cruise control, lane positioning assistant and side blind-spot alert.
