Operated by Chargemaster Plc, the network has so far installed posts at the chain’s four-star hotels in Ashford, Rochester and Basingstoke, with more to follow shortly.

It adds an additional environmental measure by QHotels, which was named the AA’s Eco Hotel Group of the Year 2011-2012 for its eco-conscious operation.

Philip King, director of property at QHotels said: ‘QHotels are delighted to be partnering with Chargemaster in this exciting roll out of electric vehicle charging points throughout the country,  this fits very well with QHotels culture of sustainability.’

The POLAR network is aiming for 4,000 charging points to be installed across the UK, covering homes, businesses and public access units. It recently completed its coverage of the south coast of England, and has begun phase 2 of the project on the M4 corridor.

David Martell, chief executive of Chargemaster Plc, commented: ‘In a bid to reduce global carbon emissions, POLAR is supporting new electric technology by investing and providing a nationwide EV charging network.  This can only be achieved with the support of forward thinking companies such as the QHotels Group, who realise the importance of the EV market and the conservation of the environment.’
