The Stuttgart-based company recently unveiled a range-extended electric vehicle base don the Audi A1 supermini, which was offered for test drives at the presentation of the charging point.

The car uses a 900cc two-cylinder engine as a generator, paired with a 134bhp electric motor to offer a 55-mile range from a single charge, while CO2 emissions are estimated to be less than 45g/km.

Development was carried out without OEM support, and everything except the battery is housed in the engine bay.
