Polestar is to drive its fleet presence across Europe and the UK with the appointment of Martin Gurney.

Martin Gurney brings an extensive background in fleet, covering over two decades within the former PSA Group (now Stellantis)

Working alongside both the UK and global teams, Gurney joins as head of European fleet and business, responsible for the UK and Benelux regions.

He brings an extensive background in fleet, covering over two decades within the former PSA Group (now Stellantis). This includes roles across sales, training and retail, while Gurney also spent the last five years as director of fleet and used vehicles in the UK with the group.

His appointment comes as interest from fleet and company car users in the new Polestar 2 continues to grow. It’s available from £46,900 (incl. the Plug-in Grant) and attracts a 0% BiK rate in the current tax year, rising to just 1% BiK for 2021/22.

Martin Gurney commented: “Polestar is a brand I’ve been watching closely and when the opportunity arose to join, I just had to grasp it. It’s clear the automotive future is electric so I couldn’t think of a better place to be – the opportunity is huge.”

Polestar’s global head of sales, Mike Whittington added: “During 2020 we focused on establishing our Fleet & Business infrastructure and launching Polestar 2. With a significant level of demand and momentum building, during 2021 we will focus even more intensely and demonstrate the importance of fleet sales to Polestar. I am delighted that Martin is joining us to strengthen the team, which will expand even further across Europe. With his considerable experience we will continue to build our fleet presence during the coming years.”
