Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV on sale with seven seats and 365-mile range
The Mercedes EQS SUV is now on sale, priced from £129,170 and with up to 365 miles of range.
The new model is where “functionality meets luxury”, according to the brand, and features seven seats as standard. Built on the Mercedes fully electric EVA platform, it rivals models such as the Tesla Model X and smaller BMW iX.
Two powertrains will be available from launch: the four-wheel drive EQS 450 4Matic which features up to 365 miles of range, or the four-wheel drive EQS 580 4Matic with up to 364 miles.
The former delivers 360hp and 800Nm of torque with a 0-62 time of six seconds, while the EQS 580 Matic gets 544hp, 858Nm and a quicker 4.6-second sprint time.
Both feature a 108.4kWh battery with a 22kW onboard charger and can be charged at up to 200kW DC, giving a 10-80% charge in 31 minutes. They’re available in AMG Line Premium Plus or in a Business Class trim.
Rear-axle steering of up to 10 degrees is standard, along with Airmatic air suspension, which can raise the ride height by 25mm. Various dynamic select driving modes are available and include a dedicated offroad mode.
Onboard technologies include the Hyperscreen infotainment system, already seen in the EQS saloon and with three high-definition OLED displays. It comes as standard on the EQS 580 and is an option on the EQS 450 Premium. Its off-road capabilities are also complemented with unique infotainment displays and a digital compass in the heads-up display.
Also included is the latest-generation MBUX infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB-C and wireless charging and a Heads-up display for the driver. The voice control based ‘Hey Mercedes’ interior assistant can be used to ask MBUX to control all sorts of vehicle functions, from interior lighting colours, to directions to the nearest EV rapid charger.
Interior specification depends on trim line. AMG Line Premium Plus customers get black Nappa leather and anthracite wood trim. Business Class trim uses macchiato beige Nappa leather and ship deck wood.
