Mini Cooper Electric to deliver up to 249 miles of range
Mini has previewed its upcoming Cooper Electric with a shot of a camouflaged prototype and early specification details.
Two versions will be available: the Cooper E with 184hp of power and the Cooper SE with 218hp
The fifth-generation three-door hatch is due out next year and the line-up will include an all-electric version, built on a platform produced as part of a joint venture with Great Wall.
One out of five Minis on the road now are electrically powered and the new Mini Cooper Electric will deliver improved range and maximum flexibility.
Two versions will be available: the Cooper E with 184hp of power and the Cooper SE with 218hp.
The Cooper E will have a 40.7kWh battery while the Cooper SE will come with 54.2kWh, giving the new models a predicted range of between 300 and 400km (186-249 miles).
The four-seat cabin is designed for “maximum variability” and allows the luggage compartment volume to be expanded.
The Mini Cooper Electric will be officially unveiled at the Munich Motor Show this autumn and UK sales will start in spring 2024. Specs and prices will be announced closer to this date.
The fifth-generation Mini line-up will also include the Countryman – which will start production at the BMW Group Plant Leipzig from November 2023 – while the Aceman small SUV will complete the new model family from later in 2024.
