Mitsubishi shows 2012 plug-in hybrid SUV at Geneva
The Outlander P-HEV uses two electric motors to give the same four-wheel drive ability as its conventional sibling, with an internal combustion engine working as a generator and providing additional power to the front wheels when needed.
Mitsubishi said the car will cover over 30 miles on electricity, and the car can operate in selectable modes prioritising battery charging or electric-only power for inner city use. The Outlander P-HEV offers acceleration claimed to be equivalent to a 3.0-litre V6 engine and finely controlled off-road ability.
