Priced from £37,899 after the Plug-in Car Grant, the GX5h and GX5hS include Nappa leather seats, an upgraded Alpine audio system, mood lighting, USB charging ports for rear passengers’ auxiliary devices. Styling tweaks including an Outlander bonnet badge, side steps, LED fog lamps and daytime running lights, and a rear spoiler.

The Outlander PHEV was a large contributor to Mitsubishi’s sales success in 2014, accounting for 19,980 of the 38,617 Outlanders sold Europe-wide. Of these, 5,370 sold in the UK, accounting for 69% of all plug-in hybrid sales last year and almost a quarter of Mitsubishi's total sales in the country.

Clive Messenger, head of corporate sales at Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: 'The GX5h and GX5hs plug-in hybrid Outlanders offer such a fantastic package of benefits for both companies and company car drivers – high specification, luxury feel, low running costs, strong environmental credentials. We are expecting it to quickly populate company car choice lists UK-wide.'
