More range and lower BiK rates for latest Peugeot PHEVs
Peugeot has introduced a new and improved plug-in hybrid powertrain for its 308, 308 SW and 408 models, delivering more electric-only range and cutting Benefit-in-Kind rates.
Already seen in the new 3008 and 5008, the powertrain combines the latest version of the 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 125hp electric motor and a larger 17.2kWh battery, mated to a new seven-speed dual shift clutch automatic transmission.
The larger battery enables longer electric ranges of up to 48 miles for the 408 Plug-In Hybrid 225 and up to 49 miles for the 308 and 308 SW Plug-In Hybrid 195, resulting in 9% BiK rate for 2025/2026; down 4% compared to the previous PHEVs. For customers, that means a monthly saving between £28 and £60 for the 408, and £24 and £55 for the 308 and 308 SW.
The new plug-in hybrid powertrain also delivers CO2 emissions from 18g/km; up to 13g/km less than the outgoing version.
Power stands at 225hp and 360Nm of torque for the 408, along with 195hp and 360Nm of torque for the 308 and 308 SW.
The new powertrain comes with a choice of three drive modes: the default Hybrid setup, an Electric option that allows driving using only electric power at speeds of up to 83mph, and Sport model for maximum performance.
A 3.7kW onboard charger is fitted as standard to all models, enabling a 0-100% charge in four hours and 20 minutes, reducing to just over two hours with the optional 7.4kW onboard charger.
The 308 Plug-In Hybrid 195 e-DSC7 starts from £38,110 in Allure trim and £41,320 in GT. The uplift to the 308 SW estate version is an extra £1,200, with Allure priced at £39,310 and GT priced at £42,520 respectively. Orders open on 27 February, with first customer deliveries expected during the spring.
The 408 Plug-In Hybrid 225 e-DSC7 starts from £41,500 in Allure trim, rising to £44,820 for the GT version. Orders will open in March, with first deliveries also expected in the spring.
