A new survey of current EV owners has found that more than nine in 10 (93%) would not go back to driving an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.

Respondents were predominantly drawn to the lower cost of running their vehicle

Carried out by Go Zero Charge, the study of 1,200 UK adults sought to explore the ever-evolving landscape of the automotive market, comparing the benefits and drawbacks of EVs against ICE vehicles.

Respondents were predominantly drawn to the lower cost of running their vehicle (77%), the convenience of home charging (73%) and superior performance (64%). These were followed by environmental & sustainability benefits (51%) and the lower operational and maintenance costs (44%).

However, the research also looked at the downsides of EVs and found concerns around charging infrastructure (44%) and range anxiety (39%) were still seen as drawbacks, albeit diminishing with the continuous growth of charging networks and advancements in battery technology.

Peter O’Brien, CMO at Go Zero Charge, commented: “The survey conducted highlights the seismic shift in consumer sentiment towards electric vehicles, exemplifying a real commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

“The results serve as a testament to the immense progress made within the EV sector, from technological advancements to the growing accessibility of charging infrastructure. As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, Go Zero Charge remains committed to promoting electric mobility and empowering consumers to make informed choices.”
