Symphony has met its green fleet target a year early after converting more than three-quarters of its fleet to plug-in hybrids.

Symphony has reached its green fleet target a year early with 75% of its fleet now hybrid vehicles

The fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture specialist worked with JCT600 VLS, its longstanding fleet funding and management partner, to drive its sustainability agenda and is now seeing significant carbon savings.

JCT600 VLS, which has worked with Symphony for more than 20 years, identified that plug-in hybrids would future-proof Symphony’s fleet and help it meet its eco targets.

The new PHEV scheme launched in April 2021 and now has more than 250 PHEVs operating as part of its 320-plus vehicle fleet, smashing the target to convert three-quarters over a year ahead of schedule.

Using Symphony’s existing fleet data, including a detailed review of the different user groups and their operational requirements for the vehicles, VLS presented what the future could look like.

This included modelling different fuel types, whole-life costs and operational logistics, alongside a step-by-step plan on how the transition could work.

Ben Creswick, managing director at JCT600 VLS, said: “The results speak for themselves, with over 75% (250 PHEVs) now operating as part of the Symphony fleet. Symphony’s partnership approach and commitment to carbon reduction has been exemplary, and we are proud to have been a part of its leap towards a more sustainable future.”

Creswick added that reaching the 75% PHEV target is testament to Symphony’s dedication to sustainability, and a significant milestone in the company’s overall carbon reduction strategy.

George Burtoft, sustainability analyst at Symphony, said: “Our fleet funding and management partner JCT600 VLS has supported us on our green agenda to make significant carbon savings through a detailed vehicle requirement review. This included modelling different fuel types, whole-life costs and operational logistics alongside a step-by-step plan on how the transition could work. We are so proud to say that we have met our target of having over 75% hybrid vehicles in the business a year early.”
