MPs in Westminster have lent their backing to support fleets on their road to zero, thanks to an event run by the BVRLA.

Held last week at Portcullis House in Westminster, the drop-in event reinforced the association’s call for the Treasury to keep Benefit-in-Kind rates low and give foresight beyond the current 2024/25 cut-off.

The event was attended by 26 MPs and senior advisors, including shadow ministers and influential Parliamentarians from across the political spectrum. Attendees were taken through the key role played by Benefit-in-Kind tax incentives, highlighting why the Chancellor should support the uptake of electric vehicles in the forthcoming fiscal statement, expected to take place on 17 November.

Launched this summer, the BVRLA’s #SeeTheBenefit campaign highlights that nearly 60% of electric vehicles on UK roads are company-registered while 80% of salary sacrifice orders are for battery electric vehicles due to their appealing low tax rates.

The BVRLA is calling for BiK tax incentives to be continued for additional years to continue supporting the burgeoning salary sacrifice market, where BVRLA members are helping thousands of basic rate taxpayers get access to a new battery electric vehicle for the first time.

The BVRLA will continue to promote its BiK campaign and engage with Treasury officials on the issue.
