Multimillion pound investment adds new chargers to Cambridge motorway services
Extra MSA Group has completed a multimillion-pound investment into improving Cambridge motorway services, including new ultra-rapid EV chargers.
The extensive programme of refurbishment and improvement works has been run over the past year and has seen a further two Ionity ultra-rapid (up to 350kW) chargers join the existing four installed in 2020.
Meanwhile, two Gridserve rapid (up to 60kW) chargers have also gone live at Cambridge, while additional chargers will be installed in 2023 and future years.
Other changes include enhanced ecology and landscaping, a brand-new children’s play area and outdoor seating, and updated onsite amenities including washroom facilities. And gourmet pizza brand PizzaLuxe has joined the broad selection of popular food, drink, retail and hospitality brands already located at the destination.
Andrew Long, CEO of Extra MSA Group, said: “Our new and improved facilities will help create an even better overall experience for visitors to the Motorway Service Area, and PizzaLuxe will provide a great high-quality food and drink option for those looking to dine-in.”
He added: “Helping to deliver on government targets, high-powered electric vehicle charging facilities have been installed, which will help to give drivers the confidence that they can recharge and get back on the road again quickly.”
