New Citroën C3 Aircross SUV to offer up to seven seats and all-electric option

Citroën has revealed its new C3 Aircross small SUV, which gains tougher design, more space and its first all-electric powertrain.

Open for orders in the UK later this year, the second-generation model has undergone some major changes to meet changing market needs. This includes a redesign as a “tough and stylish” SUV with a “more assertive, muscular and robust” attitude.

It’s based on Stellantis’ value-focused Smart Car platform, also shared with the new Citroën C3 supermini and the new Vauxhall Frontera. The platform enables powertrain flexibility and cost efficiency – and Citroën says both the C3 Aircross and C3 will “shake up the market with a competitive pricing position”.

At 4.39 metres long, it now offers more space onboard and up to seven seats, a first in the segment, while remaining compact, practical and agile, according to the brand.

Design incorporates Citroën’s new style language, as shown by the Oli concept and also used as the basis for the new C3. Plenty of customisation options will be offered.

Changes also include the addition of an all-electric powertrain for the first time, while hybrid and petrol engines will be available. Citroën also promises new comfort and connectivity equipment.

More information about the Citroën C3 Aircross will be shared closer to the global reveal this summer.
