A new EV solution has launched to provide dedicated private charging for fleet drivers without a home charger.

The FleetCharge solution will identify a suitable location to install a private charger within five minutes’ walk of a fleet driver’s home, enabling electric vehicle usage for those who don’t have driveways.

It’s the result of a tie-up between parking platform JustPark and the Octopus Energy Group.

Chargers will be located at one of JustPark’s 50,000 parking locations or at a new site within a five minute walk of a given driver’s home.

And by giving drivers guaranteed access to their dedicated chargers, FleetCharge effectively creates private chargers and a private network for each fleet operating customer. Chargers will be located at a mix of domestic, business and parking facilities, and always available for the designated user.

It’s a neat solution to the growing problem of charging inequality – according to figures, some 40% of drivers don’t have access to a driveway.

Octopus Energy Services, the engineering arm of Octopus Energy Group, will install and manage FleetCharge’s charging units.

Fleets will be able to benefit from using the JustPark app to access their company’s entire private charging network while drivers will be able to use 100% renewable electricity from Octopus Energy and Octopus Energy’s EV roaming service, the Electric Juice Network.
