Peugeot has debuted its E-408 fully electric fastback crossover, driving its mission to become the leading mainstream EV brand in Europe.

The new fastback means that Peugeot now offers 12 electric vehicles, including cars and LCVs.

The powertrain teams up a 58.2kWh (usable) NMC battery and 213hp motor powering the front wheels, offering a range of up to 281 miles.

It’s fitted with an 11kW three-phase onboard charger as standard for AC fast charging and also able to charge at up to 120kW DC, giving a 20% to 80% charge in just over 30 minutes.

Thanks to Stellantis’ EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform), the battery is located under the floor between the wheels, preserving the 408’s interior space, while a specific underbody creates an aerodynamic flat floor, said to give a consumption figure of 4.1mpkWh.

For added peace of mind, the E-408 is covered by the Allure Care Warranty for up to eight years/100,000 miles.

The E-408 is available in two trims: Allure and GT.

The Allure delivers LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, the Peugeot i-Cockpit with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, connected navigation with a trip planner, the ‘OK Peugeot’ voice command, wireless Mirror Screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio system, heated driver’s seat and steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a rear parking camera with sensors, along with a heat pump.

The E-408 GT adds in Matrix LED headlights, front parking sensors, aluminium interior trims with customisable eight-colour ambient lighting, aluminium door sills, a hands-free motorised tailgate, and the Drive Assist Plus pack (Level 2 semi-autonomous driving), among others.

Prices are yet to be announced while deliveries start in the new year.
