New Samsara tools to help fleets manage electric vehicles remotely
Fleet management technology specialist Samsara is introducing new tools to help customers make the initial transition to electric vehicles and manage EVs effectively going forwards.
The new tools, available on a global basis to existing and new customers, have been developed to help manage the unique operational challenges of electric vehicles, from charging to route optimisation.
The tools have been added to Samsara’s complete fleet management platform and include real-time charging status and alerts to bring complete visibility into vehicle state of charge and charging status, helping to combat range anxiety. This includes notifications of low EV battery levels with State of Charge alerts that can prompt drivers to the nearest charging station, preventing ‘bricked’ vehicles.
Users can also monitor driver charging behaviours with visibility into EV charging history to ensure that drivers are charging at optimal hours and locations.
The new functionality also enables operators to optimise EV route planning with visibility into fuel, energy levels, and nearby charging stations in order to dispatch the right vehicle with sufficient battery charge needed to complete the job.
Samsara clients can now also measure vehicle performance to ensure that all the vehicles in the fleet – whether fuel, electric, or hybrids – are performing optimally.
The tools form part of Samsara’s work to ease EV adoption for its customers and help them exceed their sustainability and fleet electrification goals. Samsara also offers existing customers an EV suitability consulting service, while new customers can sign up for free trials of its fleet management platform.
