New tool to help fleets switch to EVs
A new tool has launched from Targa Telematics to help end-user and rental fleets identify which vehicles are potential candidates for switching to EVs.
It’s the result of some 20 years of experience of using telematics to manage company fleets and can assess savings opportunities, both in terms of costs and environmental impact, and evaluate the cars that are candidates for replacement with electric models.
Analysis by the business of long-term rental fleets has found that around 70% of vehicles could be effectively replaced by electrically powered cars.
To pinpoint those vehicles that can potentially be switched to EVs, Targa Best Choice analyses a number of parameters including the historical data of the individual car, the type of driving and the context it is used in. Reports on both the potential cost and CO2 savings can then be generated.
Reports on both the potential cost and CO2 savings can be generated by entering the licence plate number of a connected car, enabling whole fleets to be assessed.
But as well as identifying vehicles, Targa Telematics can support the fleet manager in the management of electric vehicles by providing tools that enable the proper use of batteries, sizing and organization of the charging infrastructure, verification of recharging, allowing optimal use also by drivers.
Alberto Falcione, VP sales of Targa Telematics, said: “Today, more than ever, digital technologies can offer a valuable contribution to the management and design of new forms of innovative and sustainable mobility; aspects that have always guided Targa Telematics’ research and development in the creation of complete, profitable solutions that are easily usable and implementable by its customers, but also for the benefit of the environment we live in.”
