New training courses to aid fleet driver shift to EVs

New e-learning courses training drivers on the electric vehicle experience and requirements are now available for fleets.

The two e-learning modules support new and experienced EV drivers

TTC Group has launched two modules to support new and experienced EV drivers and protect vulnerable road users.

Launched in response to client demand, the courses include a new 30-minute ‘Electric Vehicle Familiarisation’ module.

While many TTC customers undertake on-road practical driver training with an expert trainer to help them get to know their EV, the new course provides a more time-efficient solution. Training includes ‘need to know’ content for those driving an EV for the first time, including safety considerations, charging and how to maximise range.

The second module, ‘So you think you know your EV?’, uses challenging and competitive gamification to help existing EV drivers achieve maximum possible range from their EV and consider safety of themselves and other road users. Taking just 20 minutes to complete, it also familiarises drivers with precautions they should adopt to protect vulnerable road users when travelling at speeds below 11mph.

Andy Wheeler, training product manager for TTC Group, said: “Businesses are prioritising reducing carbon emissions through greening their fleets, but even those drivers who are keen to switch to electric often need some help in getting to know the new driving experience and requirements.

“Range anxiety is a big blocker for would-be EV-drivers, and the unknowns of charging, costs and maintenance don’t help. These courses will help get more fleet drivers on board with electric much sooner, quickly dispelling myths and assuaging concerns.”
